My Account of the Hazy Daze Raid & My Arrest

My Account of the Hazy Daze Raid & My Arrest

On Thursday, March 28th, at about High Noon, I was working at Hazy Daze (2104 Strand St., Galveston, TX), assisting with interviews and creating a video for the Forever Sweet Candy Shop (I know, sugar is no bueno) across the street. While I was on the phone scheduling an interview, a sheriff’s officer walked into my office with an assault rifle, said “search warrant,” and took my phone from my hand.

At that moment, I had nothing on me but my clothes and my dog on a leash she’s always sitting next to me at work. I was placed in handcuffs, along with other employees, and we were sat outside the store while officers—including sheriff’s deputies, people in suits, and individuals wearing “District Attorney” jackets—stood around talking.

After some time, I was placed in a black SUV and questioned. I answered everything they asked. Later, I heard that parts of what I said in this interview were included in news reports. Once they finished questioning me, they told me I could leave—but at that point, they had taken my wallet, keys, and phone, so I was stuck.

I walked over across the street where I had sent my dog Lucy with the staff at C-Level RESORT & SURF WEAR. After waiting about 45 minutes at c-level, I decided to go back and politely ask for my car keys so I could leave as instructed. Instead of handing me my keys, an officers put me in handcuffs again and took me to jail.

The Charge Against Me

I was charged with UCW (Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon). For context, I legally own a .380 Ruger LCP, which I keep in my backpack. Texas allows permitless carry, and I had previously held a License to Carry, but I let it expire because the law changed to allow constitutional carry.

Despite this, I was arrested. I was later bonded out, thanks to Mike Mejia, who I heard bonded out all the Hazy Daze employees.

Missing Property & Other Issues

  • My wallet and belt were last seen in the possession of the officers, when i was leaving the Jail they just said that they lost them.
  • My three iPhones and MacBook Air were also taken. I can still see them moving around inside the Galveston County Jail on the Find My app, but I haven’t been able to get them back.
  • When I was told my bond was $1,000, I later discovered it was actually set at $1,500.

Final Thoughts

I wanted to share my experience directly because I’ve already heard news reports circulating before I was even arrested. This post is not to argue legal details—just to tell my side of the story.

At this point, my focus is on getting my property back, resolving this situation, and making sure the truth is out there.

Thanks to everyone who has checked in on me—I appreciate the support.
